Best Overall Golf Cart Bags

Think all cart bags are the same? Think again. Just as a driver or putter may offer performance benefits over its competition, so does a top performing cart bag.

When we evaluate cart bags, we do so through an expert lens that’s been crafted over a decade of testing golf gear. No stone is left unturned, and no divider unchecked. Testing 28 cart bags head to head is a massive undertaking. But, we won’t settle for anything less than the best. And in this case, a true head to head comparison of all 28 bags, zippers and all, is the only way to find the best fit for your game.

We won’t let you spend a dime on a cart bag that under delivers.

If you’re unsure of where to start your search, these are our top picks for the best golf cart bags overall.

dollar icon Price
$335

The PING DLX cart bag has massive amounts of useable storage for all of your accessories.

  • Quality is a priority

The PING DLX cart bag features top-notch zippers, magnets and more to keep everything frustration-free.

Don't Buy This If

  • You want something small

The DLX is on the bigger side of things.

  • You want something light

Weight isn't a huge factor for cart bags, but even still, the DLX is on the heavier side, making it harder to move from the car to the cart.

Purchase at

Bottom Line

The PING DLX is the best cart bag of 2024. It has cavernous pockets, fantastic zippers and world-class dividers. There’s nearly nothing bad to say about this cart bag. It’s that dang good.

Tester Feedback

Testers praised the smooth zippers and massive pockets. Testers also liked the strap pass-through system, which was very clean and hides the strap nicely. The hidden shoe pockets were a big hit with the testers, too. Some did wish, however, that the zipper pulls themselves were slightly larger and easier to grab.

Expert Take

The PING DLX is as dominate as a cart bag can be. Year in and year out, this beast of a bag wreaks havoc on all challengers.

That’s not surprising to me, though. PING’s prowess for nailing the details has always translated well into their golf bags. The DLX is no different. From hidden shoe pouches to hiding the cart strap, this cart bag is just flat out better than the rest.

Don't Buy This If

  • You love massive grips

The dividers on the Big Rig are super nice but smaller than some other 14-way tops.

Purchase at

Bottom Line

The Sunday Golf Big Rig is the runner-up for best cart bag of 2024 for good reason. It’s technically great in every aspect that a cart bag needs to be: great pockets, lots of storage, great zippers and excellent dividers.

Tester Feedback

Testers praised the rubberized dividers that made retrieving clubs easier. They loved the large cooler pocket and the overall weight of the bag.

Expert Take

Just as its little brother surprised me in the stand bag category, the Sunday Golf Big Rig was quite the shock in the cart bag test. Seriously, it’s rare we see anyone rival PING in one, let alone two, testing categories.

Sunday Golf did their homework when they created their first-ever cart bag. Being only the first iteration, it’s safe to say Sunday Golf has set an extremely high standard for years to come.

Bottom Line

The Vessel Lux XV 2.0 is flat-out baller. This premium cart bag has ample storage, great pockets and a premium fit and finish that’s hard to beat.

Tester Feedback

Testers praised the velour dividers and the magnetic rangefinder pocket. They noted that the construction was premium but felt it would get dirty easily.

Expert Take

If there’s one bag that gets testers talking, it’s Vessel. Why? They look so darned good. The Lux XV 2.0 is stunning in every sense of the word. Where it falters in things like weight and price, it makes up for in luxury feel and premium features.

Magnets, anyone? Vessel is known for their magnetic pockets and the Lux XV 2.0 definitely puts them to good use.

Best Value Maxfli Honors

8.7/10

$189

Buy This If

  • You want a great value

The Maxfli Honors cart bag is an excellent value at $189,.

  • You want a 14-way top

The Maxfli Honors cart bag features 14 dividers to keep your clubs organized.

Don't Buy This If

  • You want massive storage

The Maxfli Honors cart bag lacks some of the huge pockets that other cart bags feature.

  • You want premium

Maxfli's Honors cart bag isn't as premium as other bags we tested.

Bottom Line

The Maxfli Honors cart bag is the best value cart bag for 2024. What it lacks in some areas, like storage and pockets, it makes up for with its budget-friendly price tag.

Tester Feedback

Testers praised the zippers and cart strap pass through. They said that although the bag felt a little cheaper than some, the overall weight made it feel more premium.

Expert Take

Maxfli’s new cart bag, like its stand bag brother, is an excellent value. In a world where golf is growing more expensive, I’m grateful for brands like Maxfli which continue to make top-performing products at budget-friendly prices.

Good on you, Maxfli! The Honors cart bag is a solid choice, especially at $189.

Best for Pushing Callaway ORG 14

score icon Review Score
9.4/10
dollar icon Price
$280

Buy This If

  • You ride and push

Callaway's Lowrider technology makes using the ORG 14 on a golf cart or push cart a seamless journey.

  • You need storage

The ORG 14 has a large amount of storage and plentiful pockets for all of your golf goodies.

Don't Buy This If

  • You don't like 14-way tops

As the name suggests, the ORG 14 features a 14-way divider top

  • You want something ultra light

While not considered heavy by our testing standards, the ORG 14 is not the lightest cart bag.

Bottom Line

The Callaway ORG 14 is not only the best cart bag for use with a push cart but it’s just flat-out one of the best cart bags of 2024.

Tester Feedback

Testers loved the large pockets and zippers and praised the spacious putter well and Lowrider 2.0 top.

Expert Take

When I say this thing is massive, I mean it. The ORG 14 is one of the biggest cart bags out there. And that, in my opinion, is a good thing.

For someone who needs a lot of extra golf balls and perhaps a snack or two, the ORG 14 is a baller. Plus, the Lowrider 2.0 top makes it seamless to integrate with a push cart.

Best Lightweight PING Traverse

score icon Review Score
9.5/10
dollar icon Price
$270

Buy This If

  • You want something light

The PING Traverse is among the lightest cart bags we tested in 2024

  • You like good zippers

The PING Traverse has buttery smooth zippers and great zipper pulls

Don't Buy This If

  • You want something big

The Traverse is the smallest of the PING cart bag lineup and lacks the storage space of the DLX or Pioneer.

  • You use a large putter grip

The putter well on the Traverse is smaller than most other cart bags that we tested.

Bottom Line

The PING Traverse is the best lightweight cart bag for 2024. While weight might not be a huge buying consideration, it’s still important. A lightweight bag like the Traverse is easier to move from the car to the cart and back again.

Tester Feedback

Testers loved the weight of the Traverse. Some enjoyed the smaller footprint while others wished that the bag was a little bigger and had more storage.

Expert Take

While not rated as highly as its big brother, the PING Traverse is nothing to scoff at. It’s a little smaller and lighter than the DLX but packs most of the same great features.

If you want to stick with the trusted PING name but save a little cash and a little weight, opting for the Traverse over the DLX is an easy choice.

Other Top Golf Cart Bags to Consider

How to Choose a Golf Cart Bag

Not all cart bags are the same. While the DNA that makes a top-performing cart bag is consistent, not all manufacturers nail all the details.

Besides the big stuff (storage, dividers, weight, etc.), a cart bag should just make your round easier overall. Anything that detracts from a great day on the course (faulty zippers, stiff pockets, etc.) has the potential to derail that record-breaking round you’ve got going.

Storage

Above all else, the best cart bags have great storage. Since weight is less of a factor when riding on a golf cart, having room to bring along every golf accessory known to mankind can benefit your game. The best cart bags have room for extra apparel, raingear, snacks, beverages and more.

Heck, some cart bags have room all of that and a rangefinder, speaker and your favorite training aid. In any case, the more storage, the better.

It’s worth noting that “storage” is not the same thing as “pockets.” A bag with a lot of pockets can have little useable storage. We take into account things like how wide pockets open and how accessible the actual storage is rather than just the number of pockets or volume of storage alone. In this regard, scoring a cart bag on storage is just as qualitative as it is quantitative.

The best cart bags for storage are the Motocaddy Pro Series and PING DLX. Both are massive. I don’t throw around the phrase “absolute unit” very often but both of these cart bags deserve the moniker.

Dividers

Perhaps the second most important feature of a cart bag is the dividers. The difference between the best cart bags and those that miss the cut often comes down to a detail like the dividers. While most cart bags feature a 14-way top, not all are implemented in the same way.

Take, for example, the Sunday Golf Big Rig. The rubberized dividers make retrieving or reinserting clubs very smooth and seamless. Another thing we see a lot of is velour, which makes an appearance on the great dividers of the RevCore Premium Cart Bag and Vessel Lux XV 2.0.

Another factor to consider is the construction of the putter well. Putter wells that are rubberized provide more protection for the shaft and can accommodate an oversized grip.

Again, bags like the Sunday Big Rig or the Callaway ORG series are great in this regard. We also see larger bags, like the PING DLX and Vessel Lux XV 2.0, do well in this regard because the big footprint allows each individual divider to be slightly larger. Smaller bags, like the Maxfli Honors, can get a little cramped at the top.

Look for a cart bag with full-length dividers and premium materials for the best combination of organization and protection. No more mesh dividers, please!

Cart Strap Pass-Through

The most underrated feature that the best cart bags have is a well-designed cart strap pass-through system. You know, the thing that the cart strap runs through to keep your bag secure? You’ll be surprised to know that some cart bags we tested have nowhere to run the strap to, save the front bag handle.

Some cart bags place the pass-through so low on the bag that the cart strap actually limits or completely blocks some pockets from being used. Remember that thing I said about “pockets” not being the same thing as “storage”? What good is a pocket if the cart strap blocks you from using it?

This little detail goes a long way in making a cart bag useable. The best cart bags integrate this into the top of the bag without blocking pockets and, ideally, while hiding the actual cart strap.

PING and Callaway do a great job at this. They cleverly feed the strap behind the pockets to 1) keep them useable and 2) hide the strap and stop the outer shell of the bag from being damaged by said strap.

A Few Features Worth Checking Out

  • Velcro pads. Not all cart bags feature a Velcro pad for your glove.
  • Water bottle pockets. While not an absolute necessity (the golf cart always has a cupholder), some cart bags do have water bottle pockets.
  • Zippers. You don’t realize how important a good zipper is until you have one that breaks.
  • Magnets. Not all magnetic pockets work well. The best snap shut after use to avoid losing your belongings.
  • Weight. While not super important, a heavy bag like the TUMI can be hard to lug around while something like the PING Traverse or NIKE Performance Cart bag are much easier to transport.

3 Key Findings

1. Weight still matters

There is more than a five-pound difference between the heaviest and lightest cart bags! Of course, you won’t be walking with one of these on your back but pushing one on a push cart or carrying it to and from the car to the cart can become burdensome if your cart bag is too heavy.

2. This is the way

While some bags like the OGIO Silencer and Ask Echo SLC-130 feature unique, “silent” dividers, the tried-and-true 14-way tops generally perform best for a cart bag. While we’d never get mad at innovation, sometimes things are better just left alone. If it ain’t broke … well, you now how it goes.

3. Hide your straps

A cart bag is designed to be strapped to a golf or push cart. Shouldn’t there be an easy way to do so? Unfortunately, not every cart bag has a strap pass-through system. Seriously, just look at how PING does it. They have unique, hidden channels for the strap to pass through seamlessly. No pockets are blocked, no damage done to the exterior of the bag.

How We Test Golf Cart Bags

In true MyGolfSpy style, we went deep into testing. Golf cart bags were put through a series of protocols and tests by our team to ensure each was rated according to performance. We spent extensive, hands-on time with each cart bag in order to determine the overall winner.

  • Weight: All bags are weighed and scored from lowest weight to heaviest.
  • Storage: The total number of pockets does matter but so does the amount of useable storage. Do the pockets open wide or do they take up too much space? Finding the right balance of pockets and storage is key to a solid cart bag.
  • Dividers: Dividers are rated based on smoothness. A divider that catches or pulls on a club grip is scored lower than one that allows for a smooth retrieval of a club. A divider’s shape and overall design are also taken into account.
  • Features: This takes into account extra features like the cart strap pass-through, magnets, glove holders and more. The more features that are well executed, the better a cart bag will score.

“It’s worth noting that “storage” is not the same thing as “pockets.” A bag with a lot of pockets can have little useable storage.”

So much this. I bought the Ogio Woode Silencer Bag last year and holy crap are the pockets atrocious. I don’t like ever leave product reviews, but I wrote a multi paragraph review on just how poorly designed almost every single pocket on the bag is. Sure you have a lot of pockets, but they are all weirdly angular in such a way that you can’t fit anything into them and when you do put anything into them there is a ton of just wasted space because almost nothing used in golf is a triangular shape to fit in those spaces.

I am in love with my Sub70 Cart bag. Extremely light just over 5 pounds, fits Jumbo grips, clubs pull easily, plenty of storage pockets. It’s like the soul of a stand bag in cart bag body!!

If you don’t think the Tour Edge Hot Launch Cart bag is the best value in golf, then you are not doing your research. At $149 , this bag is as good or better than most, if not all bags selling for $250 and up.
