Are you not using a golf push cart and still walking the course while carrying your bag?
Why?
If you said, โItโs because Iโm a scratch golfer and I want everyone to know it,โ maybe itโs time to check your vanity at the first tee and join the push cart mafia. While thereโs inherently nothing wrong with carrying your bag, there are benefits to a push cart.
Carrying your bag can exert compressive forces on your spine, neck, and shoulders, potentially leading to poor posture and low back pain. Ever feel drained on the back nine? That could be due to lactic acid build-up and fatigue.
Today’s best push carts not only help prevent injury and maintain energy levels throughout your round, but they also come with features and accessories to enhance your time on the course.

With numerous push carts available, selecting the top performers is challenging. However, many other push carts beyond the top selections are also worthy of recognition.

Picking out a new push cart shouldn’t be a headache, and we want to make sure you get your money’s worth. We’ve honed in on the key features to make your choice super simple.
There’s a push cart out there for everyone, no matter your budget, what features you’re looking for, or how big it is. Seriously, you’ll find one that fits your game perfectly.
So, when you’re on the hunt for your next push cart, keep these things in mind: how easy it is to steer, all the cool features it has, how long it’ll last, how stable it is, how small it folds up, and how much stuff you can stash in it. These are the biggies!

Easy maneuverability is crucial for a golf push cart; otherwise, it defeats the purpose of conserving energy during your rounds.
While three-wheeled models generally offer better steering than four-wheeled options, carts with swiveling front wheels provide an almost effortless experience.
For ultimate maneuverability and a cart that glides through turns, consider the Rovic RV1S 2.0, Axglo V3, and Caddytek CaddyLite Auto + 360, all featuring a pivoting front wheel.

A good golf push cart should offer essential features such as beverage holder(s), adjustable handles, ample storage, an umbrella/mobile phone holder, etc.
Several models stand out for their thoughtful design. The Sun Mountain Speed Cart VR1 and Ridgeline 3 feature foam-padded console storage, a subtle detail that enhances user experience.
Similarly, the Bag Boy Nitron and Quad Pro provide convenient consoles with integrated cup holders and mobile phone storage, ensuring easy access to personal items.
For those needing more space, the Rovic RV1S 2.0, Clicgear Model 4.0 and 8.0+ all include a large storage console and a storage net for keeping extra gear within reach.

The braking mechanism on a push cart is an important, yet often overlooked, feature. Some models use hand-applied brakes, which are generally simpler to engage. Others employ a foot pedal, which can sometimes be difficult to see and activate, especially depending on its placement and the size of your golf bag.

A new feature gaining traction is a metal plate designed for attaching rangefinders, towels, or other magnetic accessories. However, the effectiveness of this plate can be influenced by its size, the magnet’s strength, and the weight of the attached device. It’s important to remember that sliding a magnet is generally easier than pulling it directly.

Durability is key when investing in a push cart; you want a model that will endure for many seasons.
Most carts are constructed with a tubular steel frame and incorporate plastic/polymers/metal stamping for brackets, pivot points, and cables. Additionally, the straps securing your golf bag are a crucial element. Some designs feature bungee shock cords, which can fray and stretch over time, potentially requiring replacement. Other models use wide silicone straps, though their long-term durability is still being evaluated.

Modern push carts generally feature sturdy tubular steel and/or aluminum frames built to withstand frequent use. Therefore, potential weak points tend to be the pivot points, cables, and straps. The Rovic RV1S, Clicgear Model 4.0 and 8.0, with their silicone bag strap systems, may offer greater durability compared to the bungee shock cords found on most carts. However, the Sun Mountain Ridgeline 3 utilizes nylon strap webbing that provides some stretch for a secure and snug fit.

Essentially, we’re evaluating how well your push cart maintains an upright position across various golf course terrains. The top-performing models effortlessly navigate uneven lies while keeping your bag perfectly stable. In contrast, poorly balanced carts tend to tip easily on all but the flattest ground, requiring frequent bag adjustments.
The BagBoy Quad Pro and Clicgear Model 8.0+ stood out for their exceptional stability on the course, thanks to their four-wheeled design and wide base.
If a four-wheeled cart isn’t your preference, several three-wheeled options also impressed with their stability, attributed to their low center of gravity and/or wide wheelbases. These include the Bag Boy Nitron, Clicgear Model 4.0, Sun Mountain Ridgeline 3, Motocaddy QB2, Rovic RV1S 2.0, and Big Max Blade IP2.

Consider the folded dimensions of a push cart. Carts that fold flat generally occupy the smallest footprint, making them easier to store and transport.
Think about your vehicle’s cargo space. Do you struggle to fit groceries, or do you have ample room? If the typical cube-like shape of most folding carts is still too bulky, the Big Max Blade IP 2, with its fold-flat design, is an excellent option.
For those with a bit more space who still desire a compact folded profile, consider the Caddytek CaddyLite Compact 3 Wheel, the Caddytek CaddyLite Auto + 360, and the BagBoy Nitronโall top contenders.
Beyond storage and transport, the ease of folding and unfolding is crucial. The BagBoy Nitron and Caddytek CaddyLite Auto + 360 are standout choices, practically deploying themselves and folding with similar ease.

Our expert staff rigorously tests push carts both in our state-of-the-art facility and on the course. Each cart undergoes a series of strict protocols to ensure it meets our high standards before receiving a final score.
Push carts are scored based on the following criteria:

Before you hit the links with your new golf push cart, here are some tips to enhance your experience:

1. Stability is Paramount: A wide wheelbase, low balance point, and/or four-wheel design contribute to superior stability. Avoid the frustration of your cart and bag toppling over, potentially damaging your clubs.
2. Effortless Maneuvering: A good push cart should glide smoothly across various terrains. Three-wheeled carts perform well on grass and paved surfaces, while those with swiveling front wheels offer near-effortless navigation everywhere.
3. Enhanced Comfort and Convenience: At a minimum, look for features like beverage, scorecard, pencil, and umbrella holders. Some models offer additional storage for golf balls and a phone. For ultimate customization, consider aftermarket accessories such as seats, coolers, trim kits, wheel covers, shoe brushes, and strap upgrades.
4. Compatibility with Your Golf Bag: The legs of stand bags can sometimes interfere with cart bag supports, leading to a less secure fit. If you use a stand bag, you might need to adjust it periodically. Alternatively, consider a push cart/bag combo designed for seamless integration.

I switched to the original RV1S during covid, and I could never go back to a cart that didn’t have a 360 wheel on the front. The only thing I wished it had was a storage net, and they added that with the 2.0 that MGS reviewed in this test. Can’t recommend it highly enough.

Rich… I was able to find a canvas bag (I believe it was for the bagboy compact 3) that screws into the swivel so you have storage right under that handlebar. Basically what the 2.0 comes standard with now. Make sure you measure before you buy but I’m almost positive it was this bag.

The great joy of playing the game of golf is that we have time in Nature. Walking is the best. Don’t get me wrong, a golf car is relaxing, and the GolfSk8…….. makes me smile just thinking about shreading the fairway Gnar.
With that being said, and Fluff is busy that day you can find me pushing my hot Pink cart (found her at a garage sale, thanks Mrs. Dana, and pulling my drives ;-P
I get into zen mode just getting lost in the park, talking to the birds and yelling at the clouds.
