adidas Celebrates 20 Years Of TOUR360

I’m not so sure we’ll see a cooler shoe story all year.

Twenty years ago, adidas shook up the golf shoe market with the introduction of the TOUR360. Since then, the iconic shoe has amassed a cult following while contributing to 100 professional wins and 12 major championships across 11 iterations.

Is it wrong of me to call the adidas TOUR360 a dynasty?

It’s no wonder the latest iteration has dominated the MyGolfSpy spiked shoe test for two years running.

Just think about how difficult that is: 20 years of continued excellence.

(But to be fair, adidas has not been without its share of faux pas. We all remember the non-replaceable spikes debacle of ’22, don’t we?)

Twenty years of excellence

adidas is celebrating 20 years of the TOUR360 in the best way possible by taking the original pair from 2005 and updating it with modern tech. It’s a similar approach to the way the brand reintroduced Originals into golf this year.

For those of you as invested in sneakers (figuratively and literally) as I am, the term “Restomod” may come to mind. It’s something adidas does to its basketball lineup. In short, it’s the process of updating an old shoe with some modern touches.

If you don’t care about shoes, you’re probably familiar with the term because of cars. The idea is simple: keep the exterior as classic as possible while upgrading the internals and safety features to bring the performance into the modern era.

The adidas TOUR360 20th-anniversary model nails that approach. On the outside, it bears a striking resemblance to that OG pair from 2005. But it features modern enhancements to cushion, stability and traction to ensure that if you dare to play in these shoes, they’ll hold up on the course.

What enhancements, you ask? How about LIGHTSTRIKE in the forefoot, BOOST in the heel, a TORSION TUNNEL coupled with the extra stability of the TOUR360 wrap?

A true restomod of the original TOUR360.

Little details, big deal

They nailed the little details, too. Nods to 20 years of TOUR360 can be found on the back of the tongue, on the top eyelet and on the heel. Oh, and the box they come in is downright sick.

Yes, I’m making a big deal about a piece of cardboard. And, also yes, how a product is presented is important because first impressions stick with you.

The box has a call-out to each and every pair of adidas TOUR360 golf shoes. All 11 of ’em. That’s the kind of detail and storytelling that explains how adidas has kept the TOUR360 line alive for so long.

Slow clap, adidas. You did a damn good job with this one.

You can shop the adidas TOUR360 20th-anniversary model in limited quantities starting today.

I have 3 different pairs of Adidas shoes. The 1st Adipure from 2017 which had that weird tongue design. A pair of 360 tour, and a pair of AdizeroZG. They are bar none the best shoes I have owned. I also have a couple of Ecco’s and a pair of GFores which I love as well. But Adidas makes comfortable and performance shoes that rock.

I’ll keep my Footjoy Traditions. I really don’t need my golf shoes to look flashy.

I have 2 pair of 24 360s, and barely ever wear them because I like a classic style, and I have so many pairs of golf shoes. However, every time I put them on, I’m reminded that they are THE BEST golf shoe for fit and function.
