I’ll bet you didn’t know that ASICS used to be one of the big names in basketball. Back in 1981, the ASICS Japan S was a very popular shoe on the hardcourt.
Now, over 40 years later, ASICS is bringing that same classic shoe to the clubhouse with the addition of the Japan S Golf to its growing golf shoe lineup. It’s a slam dunk if you ask me!
The shoe itself is pretty basics — just like it was in 1981. A synthetic and leather upper sits atop a rubber cupsole that’s been slightly retooled to provide traction on the turf.
Other than that, this shoe is your classic ASICS Japan S, through and through. It’s not a high-tech shoe and it won’t blow you away with performance. This model fits squarely into the “sportstyle” category that’s expanding at an exponential rate within golf footwear.
I’m personally a big fan of retro sneakers, so don’t be surprised when the Japan S Golf makes its way into my closet soon (sorry, Wife!)

I have 3 pair of asics gel course duo boa golf shoes in different colors, I like them because they are comfortable, waterproof and I like where the knob is its easier to reach for us older players who aren’t that flexible.
