Hyperice’s New Contrast Therapy is a Game Changer For Frozen Shoulders (and Knees)

Remember that thing I said last week about getting old?

Yeah, I just turned 27 and I’m already feeling it. Between swinging golf clubs (from the wrong side of the ball, according to some), shooting hoops every morning, and wrangling my toddler as she tries to dive headfirst into every sharp corner in existence, my body needs the occasional reset.

It’s why I’ve been in love with Hyperice for years. Each time they bring out a new product, I make sure I’m first on the list to give it a whirl. Earlier this year, it was the Hyperboots, which is one of my all-time favorite tech products.

Hyperice X 2

Today, Hyperice is coming out with something I may get even more use out of: the Hyperice X 2 contrast therapy device. Available in both a shoulder unit (X 2 Shoulder) and knee unit (X 2 Knee) the X 2 line provides targeted contrast therapy (that’s hot and cold for those that couldn’t jump to that conclusion themselves) and compression to improve your warm-ups and recovery.

Translation: it feels freaking good.

Maybe it’s because I shoot 50 percent from three (I’m Steph Curry with cankles) and I have a 50 percent 3-putt tendency, but my left shoulder can use some work. I’ve been playing with the X 2 Shoulder and it’s awesome. Here’s what you need to know about the latest and greatest from Hyperice.

The Tech Specs

Hyperice X 2
  • Five levels of compression (up to 160mmHg… which is a fancy way to say this mf’er squeezes but not as tight as your mom).
  • Heat up to 121°F and cool down 40°F (with five levels in between).
  • 34 percent more battery than the previous iteration
  • OLED display for ease of use
  • Can be worn on the left or right side
  • Will not make you look cool, but will make you feel cool
  • Will not make you look hot, but will make you feel hot

Why it matters

Hyperice X 2

This one is pretty simple. If your shoulders or knees are giving you more problems than the foursome in front of you that’s running aimpoint on every putt, the Hyperice X 2 will be a godsend for your recovery.

Aches and pains happen. Injuries happen. Golf, while it doesn’t look it, is a physical game. Tools like the X 2 from Hyperice are my go-to when I’m feeling a little less than stellar, and they’ll probably work for you too.

If you’re interested, you can pick up the new X 2 starting today.

I have the original one for my Knee and it is a game changer. Hope the new one has better battery life, but for someone with a bad knee, this is a lifesaver.
