Pluto P1 Golf Shoe
What We Like
- Premium materials
- Comfortable enough to walk in
- Sneaker styling
What We Don't Like
- Traction is lackluster
The Bottom Line
While not for everyone, golf sneakers are in. And there’s none right now that rivals the premium feel of the Pluto P1. While the traction isn’t great, the clean aesthetics and supple leather make this sneaker a great range companion.
Before you all get up in arms over the Pluto P1, we’ve got to start with this caveat: the P1 isn’t designed to be a performance beast. That’s what shoes like the adidas TOUR360 or PAYNTR All-Day SC for.
The Pluto P1 is a golf sneaker. And because of that nomenclature, the way I judge and review it is vastly different from a typical performance pair.
With this paradigm shift in place, it’s easy for me recommend this pair if you’re looking for a golf sneaker you can wear to the course and to the clubhouse.
Again, if you’re looking for ultimate performance, look elsewhere. Here’s why I’m a fan of the Pluto P1 (and what they can improve for next time)
Premium materials
If you’ve read my work, you know I’m a sucker for real materials. Synthetics are meh … give me real leather and suede. The leather on the P1 is really good – like barely indistinguishable from golf shoes that cost nearly $100.
It’s super soft, breaks in beautifully and seems to be durable so far. No complaints here. The materials and craftsmanship are on par.
Comfort
The P1 is not, despite what their product page says, the most comfortable golf shoe of all time. But is it comfy? Definitely. As with most golf sneakers, it has a cup sole so you aren’t sitting on a super plush foam midsole like you might find on something like the Under Armour Phantom Fore. But the insole is really good and because the upper is so soft, the fit is very comfortable.
I’ve worn this shoe to the course, on walks and to the office and every time I’m surprised at how comfortable it is.
Room to Improve
My only gripe (and it’s kind of a big one) with the Pluto P1 is the traction. I’ve seen more traction on a trail runner. If you really want to be the go-to golf sneaker for the masses, I’d recommend beefing it up a bit. Taller lugs would definitely help here.
Gas or pass?
The Pluto P1 golf sneakers, when put in the appropriate context, are an awesome shoe. As someone who more frequently wears golf sneakers than anything else (New Balance 550, Jordan 1 and now the Pluto P1), I can safely say that if you enjoy those shoes, you’ll enjoy this pair.
You can shop the Pluto P1 now at Pluto. (Can we get an orange pair, please?)

Comprehensive review but minimal traction for a $160? I’ll definitely pass.
