Well, the barrier for entry into the Premiere-style golf shoe category just got cut in half. FootJoy quietly dropped a brand-new budget model (or, as I would call it, a takedown) called the Vanguard.
Stylistically, it looks pretty darn close to the Premiere Series. At just $130, it offers a similar aesthetic with some obvious cost-cutting moves.
So, what are you getting for a shoe that costs nearly $100 less than its fraternal twin? It’s really about what you’re not getting.

I tried on a 9.5 in the vanguard (my normal FJ size), too tight across the foot. I ended up buying the Premier 9.5, fits well.
