I’ve Worn Over 125 Golf Shoes! Here Are Five of My Favorites

I case you haven’t guessed, I like golf shoes. I’ve spent the better part of two years with MyGolfSpy testing any golf shoe I can get my hands on. Through various Most Wanted testing seasons and a host of individual golf shoe reviews, I’ve worn more than 125 different pairs.

That’s a lot of shoes. A lot of bad and a lot of good. When you’ve worn as many as I have, you start to take a liking to a few in particular. And while I’ve got a constantly rotating closet, there are a few pairs that I always go back to.

In no particular order, here are my current five favorite golf shoes.*

*This changes frequently and in no way is meant to reflect or replace the best golf shoes from our 2024 testing.

adidas MC80

I’m all about first impressions. The first time I put on the adidas MC80, I was blown away with how comfortable they are. There are few things about the shoe that I don’t love. From the supple full-grain leather upper to the BOOST midsole, the MC80 is a golf shoe that I can’t kick from my current rotation.

Under Armour Phantom

This is another one of those shoes that’s just so comfortable that it’s hard to beat. While I don’t love the traction, that’s not my main focus nor my personal preference. It looks good, feels great and is easy to wear on and off the course.

NIKE Tiger Woods ’13

Despite Woods’ parting ways with the Swoosh, the Tiger Woods ’13 golf shoes are probably my favorite pair of spiked golf shoes right now. This isn’t a pair I was able to wear when they first released (I was still in middle school and hadn’t yet touched a golf club) so I’m stoked to have them in my collection.

New Balance x Malbon 550

I’m a big fan of sneaker-style golf shoes. The New Balance x Malbon 550 won’t blow anyone away with performance but they look really good and pair well with shorts, pants or joggers. I find myself wearing this one to the office more often than I care to admit.

adidas MC87 4D

I’m a sucker for stuff that’s different which is why the adidas MC87 4D rounds out my current favorite golf shoes. They’re made with adidas’ fancy 4D technology (it’s basically a 3D-printed midsole) and a cool leather upper. Yes, I did remove the kiltie.

What are your favorites?

My favorite shoes are, in actuality, probably vastly different from yours. And that’s OK. It’s fun to wear what you like, regardless of what others think.

What are your favorite golf shoes? I’d love to hear what you’re wearing!

It amazes me that Footjoy is one of the left out shoes you mention and they are the most worn shoes worldwide by men that always walk and play the game professionally. Those that walk the longest, hardest golf courses wear Foot joy the most yet it is not on your list.

CodeChaos 22 is the best I have worn. Though spikeless the sole is super grippy. It has good arch support, waterproof and a very comfortable insole.

I have worn about 20 different golf shoes. Sketchers were the worst for comfort. I had to take them off after 9 holes. Now I have become an Adidas convert. The ZG23 BOAs meet all my needs and remain the comfortable.

I have a pair of those under armour phantoms. They are comfortable but the cleats (little nubs) are soft rubber and they will wear out long before the shoes do.

Before I bought them I was still skeptical about the Nike Pegasus range, but they feel so comfortable that I immediately ordered 2 pairs. They are also usable during winter and summer. The shoes give me so much comfort, after 18 holes I even forget to take them off. There are probably 238 other brands and shoes just as good. Still, I am happy with my purchase.

Payntr. Once I got my first pair, they’re all I wear on and off the course. Previous favorites were Under Armor Spieths, and Ecco.

Seconded on Payntr, the most comfortable shoe and great traction even though they are spikeless (X001 F). We don’t have the full range here in the UK yet but we are getting more releases later this year so will be looking to pick up a spiked pair then. Don’t think I’ll ever go back to mainstream golf shoe brands after wearing them.

i don’t mean to be mean, but…..i’d have to shake off the starter and ask for a refund. if he paired me with a guy wearing those adidas “lace” sole babies…kilty or no kilty, mercy…those have, an “i haven’t broken 120 in my life, but i got these shoes.” look.

Asics nailed it when they launched the Gel Kayano Ace golf shoe. Based on the stability running shoe, this golf version marries great spikeless traction with a stable base and running shoe comfort. Water resistant and lightweight they are always my first choice when I fit in a quick weekday round.

I’m a huge fan of Puma Ignite Fasten8 with two pair – one with laces and one with the dial thingy. The other brand I’ve recently fallen in love with for comfort, style and function is Olukai – two pairs of traditional style one leather and one mesh but I just picked up the slipon, Olukai-Linksoul Collab and have worn those for my last 4-5 rounds – I love em so much I might never go back to lace up gold shoes again!

How can golf shoes be a favorite when traction is not a positive factor when wearing them? The best shoes I have currently are Adidas CodeChaos22 and Sqairz as they are comfortable, have great traction, and look good.

I’m older, walk the course and have wider sore feet. It seems like all shoes hurt my feet this year. I would love really comfortable shoes!

I think Squairz might work but a bit high $$ for me.

I found “Fit Ville” on the internet and ordered a pair of golf shoes and street shoes. I play tomorrow so looking forward to it! The street shoes are great and the golf shoes fit great!

Skechers Torque Twist were the first shoes that felt amazing on day 1, no break-in period. They have a BOA-like (not an actual BOA) cable system, and snug up nicely. Biggest problem is the loop holes are made of cloth and they rip out in after 30+ rounds in them. Too bad, now I’m looking for a new comfortable shoe – but don’t want it to cost in excess of $200

The New Balance Heritage are often overlooked but if you like a gym shoe style, they are insanely comfortable and provide really amazing traction given the spikes on the sole.

I’m a loyal Foot Joy golfer, because of the outstanding customer service they’ve always provided. Over the years, I’ve returned several pair of shoes with problems that occurred after several months of use, and FJ has always replaced them with a new pair at no charge. I currently have two pair of the HyperFlex models and I couldn’t be happier with them. They’re tremendously comfortable and provide great traction. They look good, too!
