Qi4D, LS, Max Or Max Lite? Choosing The Right TaylorMade Driver in 2026

TaylorMade won our 2026 Most Wanted Driver Test. The Qi4D earned that badge and the data backs it up. But winning the overall test does not mean every model in the lineup is the right fit for every golfer.

There were four TaylorMade drivers in our 2026 test and each one has distinct characteristics that change significantly depending on how fast you swing. Here is what our data showed about which Qi4D models worked best for golfers at every swing speed.

TaylorMade Qi4D

The standard Qi4D is the most consistent performer in the TaylorMade range and the right starting point for most golfers. It scored 8.8 at slow speeds, 9.3 at mid speeds and 9.2 at high speeds.

At mid speeds, it leads the entire TaylorMade lineup on accuracy with a straight rate of 56.4 percent and a YFC (yards from center, a measure of how far the average shot strays from the target line) of 14.21 yards. Its playable rate of 92.8 percent is the best in the range at that speed.

At high speeds, it produces 290.6 yards of total distance with strong accuracy numbers. One thing worth noting: its playable rate drops to 73.2 percent at high speeds. High swing speed golfers generate more aggressive ball flights and the Qi4D’s ball flight becomes harder to keep in play at speed. If playability on mishits is your priority at high speeds, it is worth spending time with the Qi4D LS.

At slow speeds, its accuracy score of 8.4 is its weakest category but it remains the best overall TaylorMade option at this speed with an 8.8 MGS score.

The Qi4D is for: Golfers at any swing speed who want the most complete and consistent performer in the TaylorMade range. Start here.

SpeedMGSDistanceAccuracyForgivenessTotal YdsYFCPlayable%
Slow8.89.18.49.0199.5 yds11.35 yds94.5%
Mid9.39.29.79.0253.8 yds14.21 yds92.8%
High9.29.19.49.1290.6 yds18.37 yds73.2%

TaylorMade Qi4D LS

The Qi4D LS is built for high swing speed golfers and the data makes that clear. At high speeds, it scores 9.2 overall with a distance score of 9.7. It averaged 294.0 yards, the highest distance of any TaylorMade model in the test.

At slow and mid speeds, the overall scores drop to 8.5 and 8.9 respectively. The culprit is the same at both speeds: the LS is too low-spinning for slower swingers to control effectively. Without enough club speed behind it, the low-spin design produces a ball flight that struggles for direction. At slow speeds, it posts the widest YFC in the TaylorMade range and the lowest straight rate. Similar results were seen in the mid swing speed test. It needs speed to work and when that speed is not there the accuracy numbers suffer.

The Qi4D LS is for: High swing speed golfers who want maximum distance from TaylorMade. At high speeds, it is the strongest model in the range on distance by a clear margin.

SpeedMGSDistanceAccuracyForgivenessTotal YdsYFCPlayable%
Slow8.58.58.38.8198.2 yds12.62 yds95.3%
Mid8.99.08.49.3254.1 yds16.10 yds83.8%
High9.29.79.08.7294.0 yds18.53 yds75.8%

TaylorMade Qi4D Max

The Qi4D Max is a trade-off driver. At slow speeds, you get a higher playable rate of 96.2 percent but you give up about four yards of total distance compared to the standard Qi4D.

For mid and high swing speed golfers, the picture is less encouraging. At mid speeds, it drops to 7.9 overall which was the lowest score of any TaylorMade model at any speed in our test. At high speeds, it recovers to 8.5 but its YFC of 20.01 yards is the widest in the TaylorMade range at that tier.

The Qi4D Max is for: Slow swing speed golfers who need maximum playability on mishits and are willing to trade a few yards to get it. Mid and high swing speed golfers will find better options elsewhere in the TaylorMade lineup.

SpeedMGSDistanceAccuracyForgivenessTotal YdsYFCPlayable%
Slow8.38.08.78.3195.3 yds11.54 yds96.2%
Mid7.98.07.58.2249.3 yds16.79 yds81.8%
High8.58.28.78.8285.4 yds20.01 yds72.7%

TaylorMade Qi4D Max Lite

The Max Lite is the most specialized club in the TaylorMade range. It is built for slower swingers who need help getting the ball in the air. Its forgiveness score of 9.2 leads the entire TaylorMade range at both slow and high speeds.

The trade-off is distance. It is the shortest driver in the TaylorMade lineup at every speed tier. At slow speeds, it averages 193.5 yards, six yards behind the standard Qi4D.

The Qi4D Max Lite is for: Slower swing speed golfers who struggle to get the ball airborne and need maximum forgiveness.

Hmmm! I clicked on the link named which Taylormade driver is right for you. I immediately thought, “the one I can afford”! Yikes! They are all so expensive! Bring permission back! Such beautiful clubs.

I have a question about your results you show in the Taylormade QI4D test results.
What are he actual speeds of slow, mid and fast; these terms mean absolutely nothing to me ! My slow might be your mid for all I know, all I would be doing is guessing which is dumb !

Totally agree, this information without data is pretty much useless!

      Found it.
      high > 105 mph
      mid = 90-105 mph
      Low = < 90

Had to dig into another section of the reviews to find it.

From what I remember high was >105

      mid was 99ish – 104.

      low was anything below 95ish?

I retired last year and my gift to myself was replacing everything in my bag. New irons, wedges, putter and driver. Everything went great until it came to picking a driver. I was playing a Ping 425 which was fine but I didn’t love the ball flight. I hit a high drive. Too high with no roll out. I was looking for something with a lower, more penetrating flight. All the drivers I tried resulted in the same high ball flight so I skipped the driver. So this year, when MSG listed the Qi4D as the top driver I thought I give it a go. Went to see my fitter and right off he puts me in the MAX and the same high ball flight, high balloon. He swapped me out for the LS and the shaft in the upright position. All I’m thinking, is there is no way I can hit this. Everything I read, was that you had to have a fast swing. While I’m not slow I never considered my swing as fast. First four swings were bullets. Just the ball flight I was looking for. Sold! I’ve had it a month and I love this driver. I’ve hit the longest drives I’ve ever hit. So nice to watch the ball hit the ground and then skip forward 20 more yards. Key was going to a fitter. Had I bought one off the rack I would have picked the wrong driver for sure.

      I picked wrong. I lost.

We had a TaylorMade fitting day at our club a month ago. My ball flight has been admittedly on the low side, and the TaylorMade rep saw that immediately. He put me in the Max Lite, and got results immediately, as my ball flight was much higher. I was on the Trackman system, and he raved about the carry and ball speed. But somewhere the thought of ‘more distance’ with a new driver was lost. I took his word that my drives were going farther than with my old TaylorMade. But when I got on the course, the results were disappointing, to say the least. A $600 mistake I made. It won’t happen again.

I cracked my Qi10 and TM just sent me a Qi4D. I ended up fitting into the LS and it is longgggggg! I think that with carry and roll out I am adding 15 yards. The ball comes out lower than my Qi10 but carries further and then rolls out more. And the way I set it up, a 10.5 deg turned down to 9, it opens the face and keeps me from missing to the right, which is was my most common miss. I swing around 113-115mph and it is every bit as accurate as my Qi10 was. I think that TaylorMade killed it with this model, it outperformed every other driver for me and nothing felt even close to it. I am loving the Qi4D, seriously.
