The Driver With the Most Tour Wins In 2026 Costs Less Than Some Fairway Woods

Through 18 events on the 2026 PGA Tour, one driver model has five wins. The next best has two. And the club doing most of the damage retails for $449. If you haven’t looked lately, some new fairway wood releases are starting at $550.

The driver is the Titleist GT3.

The numbers are hard to argue with

Five wins from 18 events is 28 percent of tournaments played. No other driver model is close. The PING G440 LST has two wins, both belonging to Chris Gotterup. The TaylorMade Qi4D has two. The Callaway Ai Smoke TD Max has two.

TaylorMade as a brand has four wins in 2026. But those wins are spread across three different driver models.

Matt Fitzpatrick has a lot to do with it

Three of those five wins belong to one man. Matt Fitzpatrick won the Valspar Championship, backed it up at the RBC Heritage and then teamed with younger brother Alex to win the Zurich Classic. He has three wins in four starts and is climbing the world rankings.

He plays the Titleist GT3, 9 degrees, Mitsubishi Tensei AV Raw Orange 65 TX shaft.

The other two GT3 wins came from Cameron Young at The Players Championship and Ricky Castillo at the Puerto Rico Open.

What the 2026 driver test shows

In MyGolfSpy’s 2026 Most Wanted driver test the GT3 ranked first for overall distance among high swing speed golfers and posted a 9.40 accuracy score with just 1.55 yards offline on average at those speeds.

In the main test, the GT3 again had a strong distance score of 9.4. Titleist has released its next-generation GTS driver on the PGA Tour but Fitzpatrick has yet to put it in the bag. At the moment, he might not want to change anything.

Who is the GT3 for?

The GT3 is not the forgiving option in Titleist’s lineup. It’s built for ball strikers. It has a compact profile, forward center of gravity and an adjustable CG track for dialing in weight position relative to the face. If you want shot shape control off the tee, GT3 can help.

In addition, it is slightly lower spin than the GT2 and more forgiving than the GT4 while still offering meaningful spin reduction.

Final thoughts

While the GT3 is not for every golfer, keep in mind the GT drivers are all priced below $500 and are some of what we considered the best values in our 2026 testing.

I still play a Taylormade Quad 360 with stiff shaft and at 73 years young drive the ball between 240 and 255 yards. I have a spare one almost brand new I bought for $55.

      Not true.
Just about every golf shop-golf store will waive the fitting fee if you buy the clubs from them.
Even the deeply discounted Titleist models.
I was in an almost 2 hour long driver fitting session with Cobra and the GT2 rising to the top.
I got the Titleist, for $449….. before tax, of course.

Obviously…. It’s not the same driver. However, go to Titleist.com and pick up any GT model for $449- great deal on a superior driver.

This is an interesting fact that I think is influenced as much by the player’s sponsors as it is by the quality of the equipment. Maybe I should be placing more bets on Titleist sponsored players this year?

I keep reading articles that say let the fitter fit you with the equipment that improves your game the most, be brand agnostic.

I love theses “what the pros hit” pieces. They tell me exactly what NOT to buy or even think about. My swing is no where near what a pro level golfer has.

Come on MGS, do your homework. You say the GT3 retails for $449 then click the link in YOUR article and it goes to PGASS to build one for $649-$849. Please post where you can get this for $449!

Just about any golf shop or retail store is selling a non custom version for $449. Do your own homework.

You won’t get the same performance with an off-the-rack driver as a pro who has been custom fitted and has the time and resources to tinker with their clubs.
