What Wedges Do The Best Short-Game Players On Tour Carry?

When it comes to shots around the green, skill is the most important asset but there’s certainly an equipment factor. If you want to know what the world’s best short-game players are trusting around the greens, we’ve got you covered.

These 10 golfers currently lead the PGA Tour in Strokes Gained around the green for the 2025 season. Here’s what we found when we looked at their wedge setups.

What we learned from the best short-game players

We broke down this data and information to see if there were any trends, what golfers prefer and what amateur golfers can take from it. Here’s what we found.

Vokey wedges are everywhere

Seven of these 10 players are using at least one Vokey wedge. Whether it’s the SM9, SM10 or a WedgeWorks Proto, Titleist clearly has something to offer that Tour professionals can rely on.

60-degree is the finisher

Eight out of the top 10 players in this group carry a 60-degree wedge. Some opt for standard models while others use WedgeWorks protos or custom grinds but that high-lofted lob wedge is always in the mix.

Wedge shaft insights

While most eyes go straight to the clubhead, wedge shafts quietly play a major role in consistency and feel around the greens. The most popular shaft in this group was the True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue shafts (S400 or S300).

These shafts help reduce spin inconsistencies on partial shots. There were no lightweight, high-launch shafts found in any wedge setup. It’s all about precision with these.

Final thoughts

Look at your wedge setup and see if it’s helping you perform around the greens. A professional fitting can help you determine the proper loft, bounce and shaft for your wedges, allowing you to become a more accurate player.

Would be interesting to know bounce and grind for those ten wedge combinations. I am mid-handicapper with following set-up: 50’/8, 56’/12, and 60’/10.
Considering going to 4 or 6 bounce on lob wedge to change things up. Your thoughts?

60 wedges are not for weekend hackers. They are better off using the 56 sand wedge

It’s AMAZING what you can do with a belt sander/grinder……took my wedge play to another lever BUT practice on some old wedges first. Look for Pro Grinds and Texas grinds or, I combo both on my 54 for most bunkers. I even ground my P wedge and much better. You’ll be surprised how many Pro’s not only custom grind but stack layers of lead tape on them, insane amounts of lead tape.
