One of the things I love most about my job is finding hidden gems.
As a company, we test hundreds (if not thousands) of golf products each year. Naturally, we don’t have time to talk about more than a handful of them.
We focus on winners, and rightfully so. But every once in a while, something comes along that’s way too good not to share. And often, products like this don’t fit neatly into our Most Wanted testing anyway, so it gives bums like me a chance to share some first-hand experience outside of the data.

Recently, the Sun Mountain Hometown golf bag came across my desk, and I’ve been telling anyone that will listen that it’s the coolest bag I’ve ever used.
Seriously, I’d consider breaking up with every other golf bag in my closet for this sexy SOB. If I could only choose one, it would probably be this one.
Because it flawlessly blends fashion and function. Looks and brawn. Sexiness and smarts.
Built better

It starts with the build quality. The Hometown bag is made from an uber-premium waxed canvas. It has sleek brass hardware and some pebbled-leather accents to tie it all together.
Each bag is indivually numbered (there are only 1776 of them) which is a nice touch.
The hand-feel on the canvas is so, so good. Soft, not slick. And highly durable, too. It’s one of those bags that you know will break in and get better with age.
She’s a looker

A bag is only as good if it’s functional though. Luckily for me, it is packed with plenty of pockets, a great-stand and sturdy zippers. It’s quite a big smaller than my current bag, the Vessel Player IV Pro, but I still had no trouble at all fitting all of my gear.
It has full-length dividers, too, something that not every bag has. Next time you’re shopping for a bag, shove a club all the way down and wiggle it around.
Many bags look like they have full length dividers, but they’re often not sewn at the bottom and in turn, don’t create individual pockets for each club.
Doing limited edition right

You know what I’m tired of? Limited edition gear that’s nothing more than a paint job. This ain’t that. Sun Mountain created an elevated product with elevated materials and it all works together for an elevated experience.
So remind me again why no one is talking about this masterpiece?
They won’t say it, but I will. You’ll be hard pressed to find a better damn golf bag out there right now. Period.
See how easy that was? I feel a whole lot better getting that off my chest.
You can shop the limited-edition Hometown Waxed Canvas Stand Bag now.

How is the “club tangle”?

For a smaller bag it’s actually pretty good.
