TESTERS WANTED! Swingbyte 2 with Virtual Coach

There’s a New Coach in Town

Golfers love gadgets like ladies love outlaws. It’s an attraction that’s at best unhealthy and co-dependent.

At worst it can border on the fatal.

But the advent of mobile devices and Bluetooth technology has done wonders in moving the golf gadget business away from snake oil and towards real science. We now have gadgets you can clip on to your club and sync with your phone or tablet that can provide you with as much, or as little, data on your swing as you can digest. Swing speed, club path, angle of attack, tempo, shaft lean and face angle can all be mined in an app.

And all for the price of a middle-of-the-road putter.

swingbyte 2 - 2

Back in June, MyGolfSpy’s Most Wanted Full Swing Analyzer testing ranked the best and most useful Swing Analyzers on the market. Swingbyte 2 ranked highly, but lost points due to the lack of in-app instruction.

Well, apparently the folks at SwingByte read MyGolfSpy.

Meet Virtual Coach

Late last month, SwingByte introduced Virtual Coach as an upgrade to its App (iPhone users only at this time). Virtual Coach uses Artificial Intelligence to analyze a golfer’s swing, identify swing faults and then offer solutions. Swingbyte says Virtual Coach will transform SwingByte from an info-gathering tool to an interactive learning experience.

And you’ll be interacting with some pretty heavy hitters. Virtual Coach features top-rated PGA instructors Jim Hardy and Chris O’Connell, the founders of Plane Truth Golf.

Are the machines taking over? And is this the gadget that can help get your game to the next level? MyGolfSpy wants your help in finding out!

We’re looking for 4 avid and emerging golfers to try out Swingbyte 2 and the new Virtual Coach and let us know if the claims are true. Is it easy to use? Does is identify your swing flaws and does it provide you with useful and effective instruction?

Can this technology help your game? Help us find out!

NOTE: Virtual Coach is in Beta release, and is available for iPhone users ONLY!!

How To Apply:

We’ll choose 4 of you to put Swingbyte 2 and the new Virtual Coach to the test.

Again – Virtual Coach is a Beta product, so this testing is open to iPHONE USERS ONLY!!!

Been playing for 10 yrs. Located in Texas panhandle and this year I have brought handicap from 16 to 12.5 I have used the Zepp for a lot of my practice and think it has helped a lot. It would be great to be able to compare what it provides to what the Zepp does, especially the lessons.

I run an NCGA associat golf club in the Bay Area and try to get out at least 2x a week. Handicap has been as low as 17 and as high as 23. Would play with more consistency and get down to low-to-mid 80s in the next years.

Looks like a gimmick to me. A bunch of numbers that do not mean much. Nothing beats seeing ball flight. Ask the greats I idolized as a kid, Hogan, Trevino, Miller, Wieskoph, and so on. Good Luck.

I have done a lot of research on many different swing analysis devices. Definitely interested in getting one. Have used a few devices that friends of mine have (Zepp, GameGolf) and would be interested to see how the Swingbyte compares. I live in Illinois and I am currently a 5 handicap.

If you can do it with an Ipad I would like to be a tester. I am a 5.8 handicap in Northern Virginia.

I am a gadget junkie and addicted to data.

I have the swing byte 1, but eventually gave up on it as it would not consistently sync with my phone on the range. I really liked the idea and it worked great the first 9 months. A trainer is really needed as there is so much data, unless you are a PGA Prof, it is hard to make heads or tails of what you are doing differently on each swing.

I play 2 to 3 times a week, take lessons about once every 6 weeks. 9 handicap.

I am also a software designer / programmer and feel I could give additional professional feedback in software usability.

I’m in need of this a gadget I not only don’t have but haven’t seen yet. I’m hardly an emerging golfer to be honest, I’m so old I fart dust. However I’m a loyal Golf spy Member and appreciate everything you do.

I hit balls daily, live in Atlanta, and have a 5.4 index. I’d be happy to test the beta swingbyte. I play in 2 tournaments a month and play all 12 months.

I’m a 5 handicap and I live in Cincinnati, OH. I started playing golf 30 years ago but got serious about 12 years ago, dropping my handicap from 24 to 4 in the process. I’ve leveraged lessons, videos, and a dozen gadgets and tools to improve my game. I have had my eye on this app and am excited for the latest enhancements – I would love to test this for you!

Have used the original version of this many times. The PGA professional that I work with at Dicks Sporting Goods has one and we use it all the time both in our simulator and outside on the range. Would be honored to be able to test this and with a simulator available to me I have the ability to test during the winter. Hope I get selected, really feel that this device can help me get from the 1.2 handicap that I am at down to scratch or better over winter.

Probably it will give generic swing advice. I stopped learning from a coach for the last 6 month and built a swing based on what Kelvin Miyahira teaches about how the body should move. Added 20MPH to swing speed. And now I am straighter then ever. I wouldn’t buy this.
