Best Golf Shoes 2025 (Spiked and Spikeless Test Results)

In 2025, we tested nearly 50 pairs of golf shoes, evaluating traction, stability, comfort and how well each performs in the elements. This head-to-head testing gives us a clear picture of what golfers can expect from the latest models. With most best shoes now costing $160 or more, it’s more important than ever to make sure you’re investing in the right pair. Whether you walk every round or just want a shoe that won’t let you slip on a dewy tee box, this guide will help you find the perfect fit.

PAYNTR All Day SC (Best Overall Spikeless)

What We Like

  • If you walk most rounds, need solid underfoot cushioning, and appreciate a balanced blend of stability and flexibility.

What We Don't Like

  • Those who want a firm, ultra-stable platform might feel this shoe leans more toward comfort than rock-solid rigidity.

The Bottom Line

Topped our spikeless charts with a super-high overall score (9.8). PAYNTR’s PMX foam midsole offers a plush yet responsive ride all day long. If you haven’t tried a PAYNTR shoe, it’s time.

adidas TOUR360 24 (Best Overall Spiked)

What We Like

  • Incredible stability and traction, yet surprisingly comfortable. The leather upper is both durable and premium-feeling.

What We Don't Like

  • Runs narrow in the toe—wide-footed players should try before buying.

The Bottom Line

Our highest-scoring spiked shoe of 2025 (9.8 overall) and one of the best blends of performance and comfort on the market. For the second year in a row the TOUR360 is the best you’re going to find for a spiked golf shoe.

PAYNTR Match Day SC (Runner Up- Best Spikeless)

What We Like

  • Tour-level spikeless traction, excellent comfort, and a lightweight build that holds up for 18-hole walkers.

What We Don't Like

  • The fit can feel snug in the midfoot for some players, wide feet may need to size up or skip.

The Bottom Line

Nearly matches the top-rated PAYNTR All Day SC in overall score. A strong blend of grip and all-day wearability. Great for players who want traction approaching spiked levels but prefer the sleek feel of spikeless.

PAYNTR Eighty-Seven SC (Runner-Up Spiked)

What We Like

  • Luxurious feel, great stability, and the responsive Nitro+ foam midsole is great for walkers.

What We Don't Like

  • On the expensive side, and fit isn’t ideal for very wide feet.

The Bottom Line

One of the most comfortable and well-built spiked shoes available, with a refined look and performance to match. For golfers looking for that “premium boutique” feel in a spiked shoe you’ll get it with this one.

Skechers Go Golf Elite Vortex Rival (Most Comfortable Spiked)

What We Like

  • Budget-friendly, ultra-cushioned, and ready for 18 holes out of the box.

What We Don't Like

  • Traction is good but not elite, power players may want a more aggressive outsole.

The Bottom Line

One of the best values in 2025. You won’t find better comfort in a spiked shoe at this price.

Skechers Go Golf Prestige (Best Traditional Style With Comfort)

What We Like

  • Comfortable, affordable, and traditional look. Great grip for a spikeless shoe

What We Don't Like

  • A bit too soft for players who like a firmer connection to the ground.

The Bottom Line

The Skechers Go Golf Prestige continues Skechers’ reputation for comfort and value. Top-tier score among spikeless models.

FootJoy HyperFlex (Most Stable Spiked)

What We Like

  • Excellent lockdown and support, great for aggressive swingers. Still delivers strong comfort with StratoFoam cushioning.

What We Don't Like

  • Not as flexible as some might prefer—the PowerPlate does its job but limits natural foot movement.

The Bottom Line

Strikes a superb balance between structure and comfort. Great for players who prioritize stability in their swing without feeling overly stiff.

adidas adizero ZG (Most Stable Spikeless)

What We Like

  • Sporty, low-profile design with strong grip and minimal bulk. Breathable and nimble.

What We Don't Like

  • Not ideal for those who want classic looks or need extra width.

The Bottom Line

The adizero ZG delivers on traction and comfort while staying featherlight. Great for players who like an athletic-style shoe with strong traction.

PAYNTR Moving Day SC (Best Blend of Performance)

What We Like

  • Soft, responsive cushioning and great hybrid traction pattern. Stable without being too rigid.

What We Don't Like

  • No wide-width version yet, which may limit its appeal to some golfers.

The Bottom Line

Combines Payntr’s foam comfort with reliable cleated performance. A great “do-it-all” option for a little less than the top spikeless shoe of 2025.

Skechers Go Golf Elite 6 (Most Comfortable Spikeless)

What We Like

  • Immediate comfort, reliable weather protection, and surprisingly good grip for a spikeless shoe.

What We Don't Like

  • Less ground feel than firmer shoes—some players may want more feedback.

The Bottom Line

Quietly one of the best walking shoes in the field. You’ll forget you’re even wearing golf shoes.

What about fit?

The fit of your golf shoe matters more than most golfers realize, especially if you walk often or play in tough conditions. Whenever possible, try shoes on before buying or at least make sure there’s a solid return policy. Here are some general notes from the brands we tested in 2025 but keep in mind the fit can vary from one model to the next, even within the same brand.

How we test golf shoes

Before any golf shoe earns a final score, it goes through a detailed evaluation process conducted by our in-house team. Both spikeless and spiked models are tested under consistent conditions to ensure a fair comparison across the board.

We assess every shoe across four core performance categories:

  • Comfort: A quality golf shoe must feel good from the first tee to the last putt. We evaluate the upper materials, midsole cushioning, overall fit and flexibility. Features like heel support, tongue construction and insole design also factor into our scoring.
  • Traction: Whether you’re dealing with a spiked or spikeless outsole, reliable grip is non-negotiable. Each shoe is tested indoors and outdoors to see how well it holds up during swings, especially on uneven or slick surfaces.
  • Stability: Swing support matters. We test each shoe’s ability to resist unwanted movement during the swing, examining how locked-in the foot feels and the shoe’s torsional rigidity and lateral support.
  • Weather Protection (Elements): Each pair of shoes is exposed to a controlled water test to check its ability to handle wet conditions. We also consider how easy they are to clean after a muddy round or two.

Do golf shoes really matter?

If you’ve read this far in our article, you probably understand that golf footwear matters. In addition to being made with premium materials that ensure your feet are dry and free of blisters, having the right pair of golf shoes can also improve your golf game.

The better you get at golf, the more you realize that the perfect pair of shoes can help you feel more stable in your golf swing, create a better pivot, and even generate more speed.

While you have to work within the constraints of your budget, it helps to have two pairs of golf shoes.

  • The first should be one of the more modern styles worn on and off the golf course. Make sure it’s comfortable and lightweight for casual days.
  • The second pair should be waterproof golf shoes with great traction and stability. Have a pair you can use for playing in tournaments and events when every shot counts. Also, use these when you’re playing in the morning when the ground is wet.

I’m gonna save you the trouble of complaining about this for the rest of the year by letting you know that all of the “best shoes for X” articles you’ll see in 2025 will be based on the same testing that didn’t include True. The good news is that you’ll still be able to buy them if you like them, regardless of how MGS rates their products.

Just a suggestion on how these are presented on the page. The pictures at the top of the page don’t even name the product! Best Overall spikeless description doesn’t even say the name and model of the shoe.
