The fit of your golf shoe matters more than most golfers realize, especially if you walk often or play in tough conditions. Whenever possible, try shoes on before buying or at least make sure there’s a solid return policy. Here are some general notes from the brands we tested in 2025 but keep in mind the fit can vary from one model to the next, even within the same brand.
Brand | General Fit Notes | Fit Tip |
---|---|---|
ECCO | Wide toe box, relaxed fit | Great for wide-footed players or those who dislike tight shoes. |
Skechers | Soft, slightly roomy fit | Very comfortable out of the box, forgiving across all foot shapes. |
Adidas | Narrow through toe and midfoot | Try on first if you have wide feet. TOUR360 ’24 is especially snug. |
Under Armour | Narrow fit overall | Fit is improving, but some models still run tight in the forefoot. |
PAYNTR | Medium/narrow, no wide sizes | Excellent for average feet; skip if you need extra width. |
FootJoy | Varies by model, wide sizes available | Ideal for players needing a tailored fit; check model-specific sizing. |
Before any golf shoe earns a final score, it goes through a detailed evaluation process conducted by our in-house team. Both spikeless and spiked models are tested under consistent conditions to ensure a fair comparison across the board.
We assess every shoe across four core performance categories:
If you’ve read this far in our article, you probably understand that golf footwear matters. In addition to being made with premium materials that ensure your feet are dry and free of blisters, having the right pair of golf shoes can also improve your golf game.
The better you get at golf, the more you realize that the perfect pair of shoes can help you feel more stable in your golf swing, create a better pivot, and even generate more speed.
While you have to work within the constraints of your budget, it helps to have two pairs of golf shoes.
If you want more detailed information on each of these best golf shoes and how each pair did in our 2025 spiked and spikeless testing, take a look at the results of the individual tests:

I’m gonna save you the trouble of complaining about this for the rest of the year by letting you know that all of the “best shoes for X” articles you’ll see in 2025 will be based on the same testing that didn’t include True. The good news is that you’ll still be able to buy them if you like them, regardless of how MGS rates their products.

Is it me or are all the names of the shoes missing?

Not just you! They need to fix it….

Just a suggestion on how these are presented on the page. The pictures at the top of the page don’t even name the product! Best Overall spikeless description doesn’t even say the name and model of the shoe.
