The Longest Set in Golf: Play these Clubs if you Want Max Distance!

Is your goal on the golf course to maximize distance? If so, we have put together the ultimate longest golf club combo set for you. We took results from our testing and found the clubs that maximized distance potential from the driver down to irons (and even balls!). Here are the clubs you should be playing if distance is what matters most to you.

Longest Driver: Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Max D

Who Is It For?

You want distance: The longest driver of the 2024 Best Golf Drivers test with top-five results for 40 percent of the test pool.

You slice the ball: With a draw-bias design, the Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Max D will help you straighten things out.

Who Is It Not For?

You draw the ball: If your miss is left, don’t buy a club that helps close the face through impact.

❌ You‘re looking for maximum accuracy: The Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Max D had its weakest performance in the accuracy category.

Why Buy

The Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Max D was the longest driver of 2024. We gave it a distance score of 9.4/10; the next best was 8.9. For 40 percent of our testing pool, the Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Max D was in the top five for carry distance. It easily was the best overall driver for distance.

We know many of you are looking at this club and only seeing the “max D.” Yes, this is a draw-biased driver. However, even good players who may block the ball to the right (right-handed players) may find the draw-biased head to be a fit.

One tester said, “Stellar balance, very workable, and the distance is there. It also sits great despite being a draw-biased drive.”

Other long drivers to consider:

  • Callaway Ai Smoke Triple Diamond
  • Srixon ZX7 MkII
  • Titleist TSR3
  • PING G430 LST

Score: 9.4

Longest Fairway Wood: TaylorMade Stealth 2

Who Is It For?

You need extra distance: Not only is it the longest fairway wood of the 2023 test but our testers considered it the most likely to purchase.

You care about feel: The subjective winner for the 2023 Best Fairway Wood test. Golfers loved how this felt.

Who Is It Not For?

You need forgiveness: Not as forgiving as other fairway woods in the test, like the PXG 0311 XF Gen6 (the shortest).

❌ Accuracy is your main concern: We often notice this: when distance is added, accuracy decreases. Be aware of that with the Stealth 2 fairway.

Why Buy

Now that you’ve got a driver in the bag, let’s move to the fairway wood.

We had to go back to our 2023 testing for these results and the TaylorMade Stealth 2 was the top fairway wood for distance.

Its rankings were close to the top when it came to the best fairway woods for distance. The average for the Stealth 2 was a yard or two longer than other fairway woods in the top four.

However, compared to the shortest fairway wood in the test (PXG 0311 XF Gen6), the Stealth 2 was about 17 yards longer. That’s a lot of distance!

Other long fairway woods to consider:

  • Callaway Paradym
  • Srixon ZX Mk II
  • Titleist TSR2+
  • Callaway Paradym Triple Diamond

Score: 9.3

Longest Hybrid: TaylorMade Stealth 2

TaylorMade Stealth 2 Hybrids Review

Who Is It For?

You need lots of distance from the fairway: Consistently the longest throughout the entire test with the PING G430 not too far behind.

✅ You care about the looks: Testers liked the look of the TaylorMade Stealth 2 and the way it sat at setup.

Who Is It Not For?

❌ You need forgiveness: With a rank of 21st, this is one of the least forgiving hybrids in the test.

You have moved on to 2024 clubs: Pricing on the Stealth 2 has come down but if you want to wait and see what the 2024 test brings, we get it.

Why Buy

Nope, it’s not a mistake. The TaylorMade Stealth 2 fairway wood and hybrid were the longest in 2023. The difference in distance from the shortest hybrid to the longest was 10 yards.

As great as the Stealth 2 was for distance, it placed 13th overall – another indication that sometimes extra distance is not always the answer to the issues in your game.

Other long hybrids to consider:

  • PING G430
  • Sub 70 949x
  • COBRA Aerojet
  • Callaway Paradym X

Score: 8.5

Longest Irons: Wilson Dynapower Irons

Wilson Dynapower Iron Review

Who Is It For?

You care only about distance: Easily the longest game-improvement iron of 2024.

✅ You want a great deal: The Wilson Dynapower is one of the lower-priced sets in the 2024 best golf iron testing.

Who Is It Not For?

❌ You need consistency: One of the lowest-ranking irons in the test for accuracy and forgiveness.

You don’t like a hot face: Several testers mentioned the ball jumps off the face of the Wilson.

Why Buy

To continue building out your combo set, we put in a set of game-improvement irons: the Wilson Dynapower which easily grabbed the top spot for the longest game-improvement irons of 2024.

One important thing to remember regarding golf irons and distance is that the best-performing irons for distance are often some of the worst-performing irons in the overall test.

We prioritize accuracy in our testing (hint: you should prioritize it in your golf game). The Wilson Dynapower Irons had a distance score of 9.7 but their overall review score was just 5.4. With a 7-iron in your hand, the Wilson Dynapower is 10 yards longer than the shortest game-improvement iron.

But it’s not known for consistency.

Other long irons to consider:

  • Longest Player’s Distance Irons: COBRA KING Forged Tec X
  • Longest Player’s Irons: Callaway Apex Pro
  • Longest Super Game-Improvement Irons: PING G730

Score: 9.7

Longest Golf Ball

You won’t need help finding the longest golf wedges for your bag – choosing wedges based on maxing out distance is a mistake. However, to finish out this longest combo set you may as well pair the clubs with the longest golf balls in the game.

After our 5,600-shot robotic test, we were able to determine the top five golf balls that will help you maximize distance.

The longest golf ball is the Titleist Pro V1x Left Dash, followed by the Titleist Pro V1x.

Other good golf balls for distance include:

I’m all about Cobra for GI irons. I’m playing the Speedzone and F9 irons. Dynapower doesn’t really stand out for me. I feel like I am already playing my longest irons!

How come the Titleist GTs were not tested and compared. I really love the Titleist drivers, but am still playing the TSi3 driver because I cannot get more distance with the TS,TSR series. Will be coming off sabbatical end of September. Have not played since June 2nd. Giving my back and hips much needed rest. Want to go for a fitting for the new GTs and see what all the hype is all about. Hear their numbers are rather impressive.
