First Look: PUMA Golf x Palm Tree Crew Collection

Today, PUMA Golf announced the newest collaboration with lifestyle brand Palm Tree Crew (PTC) and let me be the first to say the vibes are immaculate.

Together, the two brands have a history of eye-popping designs but the newest PUMA Golf x Palm Tree Crew Collection is nothing short of bold. I’ll let you be the judge but this one has Rickie Fowler’s name all over it.

The Details

Behind the Collection

Rickie Fowler PUMA x PTC Collection

The PUMA Golf X Palm Tree Crew Collection is the brainchild of one of golf’s most stylish players and the world’s most iconic DJs. Fowler’s flair and KYGO’s creative passion served as the foundation for the artfully crafted collection. Said to be inspired by “the art and music of golf”, the PUMA Golf x PTC Collection embodies the neon retro-tropical vibes of Miami Beach.

“Working with PUMA Golf to continue developing the collaboration with KYGO and PTC keeps me creative,” says Fowler. “Golf and music both have tempo and rhythm, bringing the art of them together through a fashion lens is unique. The Puma x PTC collection gives me confidence in my personal style that I can rock on the course. It’s cool.”

It’s noteworthy that the past PUMA Golf x PTC collections have taken on a more muted navy and gold color scheme. This newest iteration is a total departure from tradition in that regard.

“So excited to be going into the third year in a row of PUMA x PTC,” says KYGO. “This collection helps continue our mission to bring the worlds of golf and music together. Want to thank everyone who has been a part of the journey and welcome the new members of the crew. Can’t wait to see what you guys think!”

Apparel and Accessories

The PUMA Golf x PTC Collection for 2023 is rife with apparel and accessory options. Both women and men are getting polo shirts and shorts, along with men’s-only items such as joggers (sign me up), jackets and more. It would be nice to see more women’s-only options as often they are neglected when cool collaborations make their way to retail. On the accessory front, PUMA has you covered with a bucket hat, traditional cap and crew socks. Most items are available in two or three colors so you can find a look that suits your style.

If the head-to-toe apparel and accessories aren’t enough to show your fandom, the PUMA Golf x PTC Collection also features limited-edition golf shoes, the PUMA x PTC IGNITE Elevate. The IGNITE Elevate is PUMA’s newest spikeless shoe which scored pretty well in our Best Spikeless Golf Shoes of 2023 testing. While the changes here are merely cosmetic, if it’s good enough for Rickie, it’s good enough for you. Right?

Hard Goods

If you’re at all familiar with PUMA and PTC’s history, you’ll know the collection generally includes a few hard goods. This year, the PUMA Golf x PTC Collection will feature two AEROJET drivers, complete with palm leaf graphics that, frankly, I’m in love with.

Both the COBRA AEROJET x Palm Tree Crew driver and AEROJET LS x Palm Tree Crew driver will be offered stock in RH (9.0 and 10.5 degrees) with a custom LH (10.5) option as well. Speaking as a lefty, it’s good to finally get a left-handed option so you all don’t have to read my annoying “they never make it in LH” comments. We’ll call that a win-win!

The drivers come with a COBRA x PTC headcover,  Kai’li White 60 shaft and a black COBRA Lamkin Crossline grip.

To Vibe or Not to Vibe

If you’ve made it this far without a premature expostulation in the comments section, I applaud you. This collection isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, sure, but last I checked, your opinion isn’t gospel and neither is mine. Just because you won’t wear, it doesn’t mean there isn’t someone out there who will love every piece.

Remember what Rickie said? It’s cool. And while “cool” might look different for you than it does for me, it’s always refreshing to see golf take on a new persona with lifestyle-inspired, course-ready collections like this. PUMA and PTC have definitely struck a chord with me and surely some of you, too.

How do I feel about it? Don’t be surprised if you catch me in some aqua-green joggers. Coming soon!

The entire PUMA Golf x Palm Tree Crew Collection is available now at PUMA.

Putting graphics on clubs and all of these cosmetic things make me think of little kids and teenagers that buy special add-ons or stickers or phone cases. Seems silly to me to do this on golf clubs. Like the rubber Swatch Watch guard things we most of us were young.
