What’s that saying? “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”?
That’s the name of the game or, rather, the philosophy behind how Vessel designs golf bags. And since they’re pretty darn good at it, one can expect an Apple-like iteration when new products come out, rather than a Domino’s Pizza-type overhaul.
Introducing the new Player V and Player V Pro from Vessel. Rather than start from scratch, Vessel took an already great bag, the Player IV, and upgraded it in a few key areas. Similar to Apple finally switching to USB-C charging, the new Player V and Player V Pro have some welcome changes.
What’s new?
Simply put, the new Vessel Player V stand bags feature redesigned tops, more magnets and a cart strap pass-through for better cart compatibility.
If you’re thinking to yourself, “that doesn’t sound like a lot,” you’d be right. But that’s kind of the point. One can only make so many changes to a good golf bag before it starts to become overkill. In my mind, these little changes have a big impact on performance.
Let’s start with the redesigned tops. Dividers are perhaps the most overlooked part of a golf bag. That is, until your clubs are constantly snagging and become annoying to retrieve. The dividers on the new Player V and Player V Pro are offset to keep your clubs organized.
Those looking for even more organization can purchase Vessel’s new(ish) club organizer!
What about the magnets?
No one does magnetic pockets as well as Vessel. Nor does anyone do as many. When zippers fail, they render a pocket useless. That’s why magnets are so important.
Lastly, let’s talk about that cart strap pass-through. On my Player IV Pro, the cart strap nearly impedes the use of the top pocket. A pass-through system (similar to what you’d find on their cart bags) leaves every pocket open and useable. Plus it’s just more user-friendly.
Evolution, not revolution
The Vessel Player V and Player V Pro stand bags are as good as you’ll find in the premium bag category. And it’s proof that Vessel is listening to consumers. These changes, albeit small, make a big difference in performance and absolutely add value to an already great golf bag.
You can shop the new bags now at Vessel.

I don’t understand the Apple analogy. Are you trying to say that these bag are overpriced, overhyped, and overrated? Are you trying to say that this company is nothing more than a status symbol? Are you trying to say that this company has terrible customer service like Apple? Your article title makes me want to avoid this company.
