However, if it isn't resulting in predictable outcomes, you might be in trouble. Since Paradym Ai Smoke finishes towards the bottom for forgiveness, it struggles with producing consistent results for these four golf ball metrics relative to the field.

If you’re new to golf, it can be useful to understand the parts of a hybrid. Hybrids consist of several parts: the clubhead, the shaft and the grip.
The clubhead is the portion that actually strikes the ball. The hosel connects the head to the shaft, which can vary in length and is commonly constructed from graphite. The grip can be chosen separately and you can always regrip your clubs. And if you really want to go the custom route, you can add a unique ferrule, too.
The head shape of a hybrid is a bit of a mix between an iron and a fairway wood. Hybrids can also be called rescue clubs, depending on the manufacturer.
Every manufacturer has their own lineup of hybrids. The 3-hybrid, 4-hybrid and 5-hybrid are the most common. You may also find a 6-hybrid and 7-hybrid with easier launch, shorter shafts, and technological advances that can work quite well for beginners.

Love these articles and all the research MGS does on them.
Of note, the sorting functionality of the Overall Results table is broken. It will only sort correctly (alphabetically) on the name of the club. If you sort by any other metric, it varies between 9th and 10th. This is because the table is treating those columns as text, sorting them alphabetically and not treating that data as numbers.
This behavior is consistent across all uses of this data table that I’ve seen in your “Best of 2024” articles.

They’re not kidding about the G430 hybrids. There are days when I wonder why I even have anything longer than the 4h – plenty of distance with way less risk than driver for me. There are other days when I start hooking the thing completely off the course, though, so it’s not a magical fix.

I’m surprised to see the Xxio is the lowest rated hybrid. I’m playing the Xxio 12s currently and they are the easiest and most consistent hybrids I’ve used, easily beating out the G430.

I’m not arguing your results. But over $200 for one club doesn’t fit most people’s budget. There are other budget friendly clubs that probably will do the trick for most people. Just something to consider. I took a look at the prices and stop reading. It’s the case with most club reviews.

I’ll buy that subjective aspects such as feel don’t necessarily correlate with performance, but on occasion in a review you have identified the club that testers indicated would be their “most likely to buy”. Not all of us are aspiring to join professional tours, nor necessarily win our club championship, but instead most highly value the experience, the zen of golf. Why not share the collective rating of the subjective experience?

I too recently demoted new hybrids. I’ve carried the 3 and 7 TM Rescue clubs due to reliability. My hybrid upgrade was your top 6 clubs in this test. I choose the 3 Tour Edge Exotics HYBRID E723.
For me it was just easier to play. HZRDUS Black stiff shaft. Great sound, looks are amazing, smooth feel, great mid launch and rockets off the club face average 230 yds. The price point was agreeable.
Seeking a 7 HY now to complete my upgrade.

I feel this comment may apply to the whole ping lineup in itself. I recently replaced my 3W (Sim2 Max) with the G430 max 5W and I feel it’s like a cheat code. I’m sure the shorter shaft and smaller head helps but the way it looks and frames the ball at a dress. It’s super easy to hit off the deck, which is what I was having trouble with. Really considering grabbing one of their hybrids, if this rings true to their whole line. Love the feel of the club as well. Even on mishits this thing is pretty forgiving

The only real issue I’ve run across in your testing process is that you ignore a lot of other options out there because they’re not 2024 releases. I think a club that’s the current model for a manufacturer should always be included in the current test when you have them on hand, regardless of when it was released. That’s especially true if you had that same club in the test the previous year. Not sure if you keep clubs after you test them or not, but clubs that are still current models should always be included, especially if you used them the previous year. I see the TSR, Wilson, Cobra, and the Ping in the test even though those are prior year releases, but the 2nd place finisher last year wasn’t included this year even though it’s a current model year club. So there seems to be a bit of picking and choosing going on that lessens the validity of the tests. That’s of course just my opinion, but I wanted to share a thought I’ve had for a while seeing this same thing happen in pretty much all of your tests.

Exactly! One instance I would’ve found the details to be insightful is comparing the distance between the Ping G430 and the Mizuno ST-MAX 230. The review says “Relative to the hybrids we tested, Mizuno ST-Max 230 ranks towards the bottom for carry and total distance.” But what are we talking about in actual yards? One? Five? Ten? Twenty? We’ll never know and that’s a shame.

Exactly what I was thinking, distance is also relative in a hybrid for me. I don’t want it to go too far as I use it regularly for long approach shots. It’s like the 7 iron going 200 yards, easy to do but I don’t want that!

Have been gaming Hybrids since the early days when they first showed up on the pga tour many moons ago. Currently playing Ping 3H G30, 5H G30 and 6H G430 and they’re all long, straight and forgiving as heck. Anyone seen Fred Couples bag lately? Lots of Hybrids in there!

Did I miss the data results? Whatever happened to the data charts. I only see the rankings. I am a data where. I want to see the difference between 1st and 2nd and 5th, etc… Knowing those numbers helps me determine if it is worth spending a lot on 1st place or save a ton of money on 3rd place yet it was only a matter of 1ft or 5yds more distance.
