TaylorMade U.S. Open Gear

Another major, another limited gear drop. Introducing TaylorMade’s Summer Commemorative collection for the U.S. Open. Created in tandem with LA-based artist James Haunt, the collection consists of a staff bag, headcovers and the TP5 golf ball.

Let’s take a closer look at each piece and learn more about the inspiration behind the TaylorMade Summer Commemorative collection for the 2023 U.S. Open.

Behind the Design

The US Open at LA Taylormade Gear

TaylorMade teamed with local artist James Haunt to create the Summer Commemorative collection for the U.S. Open. Haunt describes his style as both gritty and vibrant, something he attributes to the dual-sided nature of living in Los Angeles.

The design itself is a juxtaposition of the buttoned-up, traditional side of golf and the gritty street culture of the city. Graffiti overtones and paint textures can be seen throughout the collection.

TaylorMade Summer Commemorative Staff Bag

The TaylorMade Summer Commemorative staff bag is a sight to behold. Retailing for $599.99, it represents the duality of LA and is seemingly split into two sides–day and night. Each side features different detailing and color pallets.

From the melting TaylorMade logo to the sun and moon details, the staff bag is well thought-out. The flow from side to side is exceptional and it ties the whole bag into a cohesive unit.

TaylorMade Summer Commemorative Headcovers

Can you have too many headcovers? If you said no, you’ll be excited to know that the TaylorMade Summer Commemorative headcovers are different from model to model. I’m particularly a fan of the rescue headcover with the Hollywood-esque star front and center.

The rescue, fairway and putter headcovers (both blade and mallet) retail for $79.99 while the driver headcover is going to cost you $99.99.

TaylorMade Summer Commemorative TP5 Golf Balls

TaylorMade TP5 Pix golf balls for the US Open

The TP5 Pix golf ball is such an interesting canvas for fun designs. It’s a real test of creativity to see how an artist can work with such a small object. The TP5 Pix golf ball ditches the famous Rickie Fowler orange for pink and purple stars and a neat melting TaylorMade logo.

Whether you’re a collector of cool golf balls or need something to stand out on the course, the TP5 Pix from the Summer Commemorative collection is a solid choice. One dozen will run you $59.99.

Unique U.S. Open Gear

As far as major golf gear goes, I’d say the TaylorMade Summer Commemorative gear for the U.S. Open is among the most unique I’ve seen. The designs are undeniably LA, for better or worse. Where do you rank this gear drop among the other major-inspired collections? Sound off down below which piece you’re going for.

You can shop the TaylorMade Summer Commemorative collection now at TaylorMade.

Looks like the fun police is out in the comments here. If you don’t like it. Cool. But why even comment?

Appreciate the article, I guess some folks like this stuff. For me, it’s it’s a total non-starter, couldn’t care less about any of this (unless I actually played in the US Open!).

My 2 cents….I’m sick and tired of all of these “limited edition” staff bags. Just have one for the year and call it good. A waste to keep making all of these special editions for literally 1 week’s use.

      Awful. Simply, awful.
It’s like somebody took much cocaine and crack in the 80’s, got frozen in a box, taken out and spewed it all out in 2023.

They forgot to include a graphic of a Walgreens being robbed.
