If I Could Own Only One Golf Shoe, It Would Be This One

Hi, I’m Connor. I have a golf shoe problem.

Well, I really have a shoe problem. But because I work here, that shoe problem has quickly morphed into a golf shoe problem.

I have probably 40 pairs stashed in my home office. I’ve worn or tried another 100 or so. All of this much to the chagrin of my loving wife who looks past my golf shoe faults each time I adopt a new pair from MyGolfSpy HQ.

So this got me thinking. What if my wife is right? What if my energetic toddler and her growing appetite deserve more financial attention than my budding golf shoe collection?

If I had to offload my hoard of golf shoes and play in only one pair for the rest of my life, what would it be?

That question sounds easy to answer … if I owned just one pair. But after some gut-wrenching decisions and some agonizing soul (sole?) searching, I’ve narrowed it down to one (dozen).

All right, I kid. If I could only own one golf shoe, it’d be this one. (Plus two alternatives if you don’t like my top pick. Sorry!)

The holy grail of (Connor’s) golf shoes

my favorite golf shoe

It should come as no surprise that the only pair I’m keeping in this very unrealistic and hypothetical scenario is the NIKE Zoom Victory Pro 4.

Yes, the Scottie Scheffler signature shoe is the only one that survives my mass excommunication exercise.

Here’s why I like them so damn much.

They’re comfier than Scottie with a four-shot lead

The Cushlon midsole of the Victory Pro 4 is quite a treat. Not too firm, not too soft. As a porridge-stealing lassie would say, they’re “just right.”

I’ve played in this pair more times than I can count and they still surprise me each time I slip them on. It truly is a delight to walk in the Victory Pro 4.

Traction that stands the test of time

my favorite golf shoe

Nine replaceable spikes headline the traction of the NIKE Zoom Victory Pro 4. They flat-out get the job done. No questions asked. No excuses. Wet, dry, muddy or otherwise, the shoes grip harder than my wife when she’s grabbing me by the wrist to tell me that “no, you don’t need another pair” and “yes, your daughter and I are tired of it.”

They’re just cool

You heard me. The NIKE Zoom Victory Pro 4 are just cool. I love the design. I like the jeweled swoosh. And the stability-enhancing TPU wing on the side adds to the look.

Nothing flashy or over the top. Clean, calm and cool. Just how I like it.

But what if I don’t like those?

I’ll let you in on a little secret. The other two shoes that nearly made the cut for me are from the same brand: adidas.

First, the adidas MC80. My favorite spikeless shoe and the one I keep going back to, time and again, despite it being almost two years old.

Second, the adidas TOUR360. They’re always in my car just in case I need a tour-level shoe to help me go out there and shoot 103.

So, if you could only own one golf shoe, what would it be? Drop a line and let me know!

That’s not a golf shoe. It’s a sneaker with spikes. Here are some examples of golf SHOES. Footjoy Premier & Traditions Adidas MC80s, G/FORE’s Gallivanter and even Gallivan2r, Travis Matthew Cuater “The Legend” What happened to you, man, too many soft goods?

I’m purely a traditionalist, so the Footjoy brand, Premier, Dryjoys, Packard, you name it, saddle, wing-tip, solid color, ect, but also appreciate the stability, feel, and traction they give, have just never embraced the “athletic look” shoe at least not for golf, understand function over fashion but won’t compromise on my golf attire, lol

There isn’t one golf shoe best for everybody. It’s a very individual thing dependent on several variables, most important of which is the size, structure, and age or condition of your feet, and the depth of your pockets. Some can be ruled out due to basic quality or price, but otherwise it’s each to his own.

Footjoy Premier Series – Field (spiked). Ironically I already own the Field Spikeless and the Packard Spiked and cannot justify dumping or benching them for the one I’d take if I could have only one.

Maybe finest best shoe in the world for free. But it is still Nike.

I used to love their products. When stuck their big foot into politics, stuff I have strong opposition to? They dont exist for me anymore.

Stick to business, leave politics at home.

Oldies but still awesome (to me at least!) – Nike Lunar Command 2. There’s a reason I have 4 pairs of them. Traction, comfort, and stability. I’m always on the hunt for another pair of them
